Gratitude

I believe that simply being grateful would change a lot of people’s lives.

Awe struck!

Lately I’ve been very intrigued by the story of Lazarus. I’ve grown up hearing it many times but never really ‘heard’ it. Lazarus was a friend of Jesus as well as his sisters Mary and Martha. Jesus would visit with them when he’d pass through Bethany, the small town where they lived. When news reached him of Lazarus being sick he was not near Bethany and the disciples said to Jesus that they should go because Lazarus needed him. Jesus said no, we will wait. He chose to wait until his friend had died and was buried. He chose to wait because he knew that healing Lazarus from his illness was not going to be as strong a message as raising him from death. After he’d been buried for FOUR days Jesus arrived in Bethany. Mary and Martha were devastated from the loss of their brother and friends of the family also were in serious mourning. When Jesus saw their sadness it broke his heart and he too wept. I always heard this message and it was delivered so that the emphasis was that Jesus wept because his friend had died but I believe he wept for the sadness of those left behind because he CHOSE to wait and come after Lazarus had died. This tells me that our broken hearts break his heart too. Now imagine how the sisters must have felt when Jesus said show me where he is buried! They said, we can’t open it Master! He’s been buried for FOUR days! It will smell! But Jesus insisted they show him so they did. And when they opened the tomb it did smell of course. Jesus stood and said “Lazarus, come out!” He said it as a command with great authority. Twice he commanded that Lazarus come out and he did. He walked out of his tomb still wrapped in the burial linen. How awe struck must everyone have been?!

Meant to be

Something funny just happened to me and I have to share! I was straightening the books here and facing out ones that hadn’t been, for a new look. I was on my knees facing out Frank Peretti’s ‘This Present Darkness’ and the second one and I thought these are such good books even though they are older and would make a great read for someone. A customer came in the door so I stood up and said hi to her. She came up to the counter chatting about the heat and then she said I have 2 books I’m wondering if you could get for me. I said let’s have a look as she pulled a paper from her purse. She said they are older books as she handed me the paper. I looked at it and had to smile. I looked at her and said, this is too funny! She looked at me all surprised and said why? I went around the counter and pulled both from the shelf and handed them to her. She was so excited that I had 2 copies of each cause one was a gift and one was for herself! Then I told her what I was doing and thinking right before she came in. She thought it was funny too and meant to be for her today!

Message on T-shirt

T-shirt messages are one of the most read in the world and today I decided to wear my ‘Heaven is for Real’ t-shirt and first the lady at the register in the grocery store asked where I got it and then we chatted about it a bit. Then I walk out to my car and someone taps me and another lady asks if I’ve read the book? I said yes and we chatted about it too! Yay for great shirts!

Fright!

The air was cool but sweat beaded up on Ella’s forehead. The run up the multi flights of stairs was only partly to blame. Fear always caused her to sweat.  Thankfully, for now she seemed to be safe.

The old loft was drafty and smelled of old wood and mildew. Darkness crowded in all around her as she felt her way across the worn floor. She needed to move slowly as to not cause more creaking than necessary. Not and easy feat on such a decaying surface.

She was fairly certain she was not followed into the building. She also knew better than to assume anything. Assuming led to letting down her guard and she could not afford such a mistake.

When she reached a far corner she brushed aside the debris and sat with her back to the wall. She huddled with her arms hugging her knees to her chest. She’d wait here until at least daybreak. She rubbed her sleeve across her face and blinked trying to see anything in the blackness.

  Nothing.

  Silence.

  Then she heard it!

If…

If I wrote a story, what would it be?
A tale of adventure or a great mystery.

If I wrote a story, I’d tell a great tale!

Of evil and good, where good would prevail.

If I wrote a story.
